Wield Your Weapon

Wield Your Weapon

While rebuilding the walls of Jerusalem, Nehemiah’s enemies surrounded the city, thwarting the work with threats and taunts. Along with fear for their own lives, the laborers were concerned for the families they’d left back home to tend the fields.

Don’t be afraid,” Nehemiah told the people. “Remember the Lord, who is great and awesome, and fight for your brothers, your sons and your daughters, your wives and your homes.” (4:14) He then posted guards and armed the laborers and they “did their work with one hand and held a weapon in the other.” (4:17)

Today, enemies taunt this nation from abroad. Yet you do not have to carry weapons of war to your workplace. America’s well-trained military stands on guard for you. But they do need you to wield your greatest weapon – of prayer. Intercede particularly this Memorial Day for God’s protection for them, and for their families’ provision here at home.
