Proposed Plan for Government-Run Healthcare

This is an actual flowchart of the proposed plan for government-run healthcare.

Here's what the Congressional Budget Office had to say in its preliminary assessment of the plan:

According to our preliminary assessment, enacting the proposal would result in a net increase in federal budget deficits of about $1.0 trillion over the 2010-2019 period. When fully implemented, about 39 million individuals would obtain coverage through the new insurance exchanges. At the same time, the number of people who had coverage through an employer would decline by about 15 million (or roughly 10 percent), and coverage from other sources would fall by about 8 million, so the net decrease in the number of people uninsured would be about 16 million or 17 million.

... The estimates provided do not address the entire bill—only the major provisions related to health insurance coverage. Some details have not been estimated yet, and the draft legislation has not been fully reviewed. Also, because expanded eligibility for the Medicaid program may be added at a later date, those figures are not likely to represent the impact that more comprehensive proposals—which might include a significant expansion of Medicaid or other options for subsidizing coverage for those with income below 150 percent of the federal poverty level—would have both on the federal budget and on the extent of insurance coverage.

The federal budget is on an unsustainable path, primarily because of the rising cost of health care.

Projected Federal Spending Under One Fiscal Scenario
(Percentage of gross domestic product)

Health care is approximately 17% of the Gross Domestic ProductIf the government controls health care in this country, they will control 17% of the market value of all the goods and services produced in the nation (20% by 2017), in addition to being the principal owner of General Motors, controlling the banks, and pulling those strings that are attached to the "stimulus" money they forced down the throats of many states.

If you think the government has done an exemplary job with Medicare, Medicaid, the IRS, the Post Office, keeping track of the Social Security "surplus" (which they spent!) and, more recently the two gigantic "stimulus" packages, then this plan is for you. If you think the government can do a better job of assessing your medical needs, this plan is for you.  If you think the government will do a good job controlling medical schools, and deciding who gets treatment (or IF they get treatment) and when, this plan is for you.

On the other hand, if you think Americans already have the best health care system in the world, but the private health care system needs some work to improve it, then let your employees - yes, employees because we elected them to work FOR us - know that you reject the largest power grab in the history of our nation. Government-run health care, along with "cap and trade" (another crippling government proposal), will transform our country into a place we will no longer recognize and certainly cannot afford to live in. Speak up before it is too late! Let them hear your voices loud and clear. Prevention is worth a pound of cure.
