Said Musa was arrested and jailed last May, then threatened with execution for converting to Christianity. Apostasy carries the death penalty in Afghanistan.
Musa was recently released from an Afghan prison, and is now living in another country. Because of security concerns, it's unknown when this took place or where Musa relocated to.
Several Christian and human rights groups including the American Family Association urged for Musa's release, and for the United States to get involved.
"God has allowed the AFA family of supporters to be a part of His work in the freedom of a fellow believer held in a prison," AFA president Tim Wildmon said in an email. "I was especially touched by one AFA supporter who offered to let Said Musa and his entire family stay in their home (if he was granted grant asylum in the United States)."
Shoaib Assadullah, another Afghan Christian, is currently in prison for the same apostasy charge Musa faced.
Assadullah was arrested Oct. 21 for giving a Bible to a man who reported him to authorities.
