World Changers Invasion
World Changers invade Tuscaloosa to help remove debris
More than 200 students from eight different states have invaded Tuscaloosa,
Alabama this week, choosing to donate their time and energy to help tornado victims clean up the debris from April's storms. The students range in age from sixth graders to college kids and are part of a summer volunteer program called World Changers, an initiative of the North American Mission Board.
A total of 20,000 students are expected to do manual labor in more than 85 cities across America this summer, mostly working to improve substandard housing. In Tuscaloosa, 17 crews have been dispersed throughout the city to assist with debris removal.
The World Changers in Tuscaloosa hail from Tennessee, Indiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, Texas, Missouri and North Carolina. They are staying in Hillcrest High School and have been working at various sites in Tuscaloosa since Monday, June 13. They will stay until Friday, June 18.
